Maine inks Defensive Back CJ Counts

PORTLAND- Clarence Counts (5’9,175) signs with the Maine Mammoths for his first year of arena football.

Counts finished his college career with Graceland University, an NAIA in Lamoni, Iowa. During his college career, he played defensive back and was a kick returner for the yellow jackets. In 2012, he played in 10 games, collecting 27 tackles and two interceptions. He finished his college career with 28 career pass breakups and eight interceptions. Counts made his way to Graceland University after transferring from Valley City State University in Valley City, North Dakota.

Counts is a native of Pahokee, FL where he played at Sebring High School. During his time at Sebring High, he was an All-County Defensive Back and played in the South-Central All-Star Game. Early in his career, he received the Marquis Hamilton Scholarship Award and was nominated the most valuable player in the National Underclassmen Ultimate 100 Camp.  

The Maine Mammoths are members of the National Arena League (NAL). The National Arena League was founded in 2016 and hosted its inaugural season in 2017 as the premier league in arena football.
